Prisoners of the System tells the true story of two brothers shuffled through the Iowa Department of Human Services foster care system through the 1970s and 1980s. Although their journey starts together battling the same abuse, the system that rescued them is the same catalyst that tears them apart. Sent to live separately in various places and through many relocations over their adolescent years, the brothers endure abuse in many forms while struggling to reunite. In addition to the book being published, we are working on securing agreements with non-profit organizations to donate and help promote awareness of child abuse in America. We are hoping these efforts lead to changes in legislation and stricter enforcement of the laws protecting children.
